Congratulations, I am truly SO happy for you!! Getting engaged to the love of your life is such a wonderful season of life, and only leads up to the happiest days ahead. Having just got married after an almost 2 year engagement, I have some advice for all you newly engaged couples!
My first and most important word of advice? ENJOY YOURSELVES. You might not be wedding planning right off the rip (and if you’re a planner like me, it’s really hard not to just hit the ground running!), and that’s so wonderful. Enjoy this time with your fiance without any pressure of counting down the days till ‘I Do’. Wedding planning can be a full time job in itself, so only start when you truly feel ready to do so.
Next, get some engagement photos done! You don’t have to have a date set or a wedding photographer booked, just find a photographer whose style vibes with yours. You will most likely get a free engagement session with your wedding photographer when you start hiring all your vendors (atleast I include one ;D), but that just means more photos to display around your home and your wedding!
If you want to start wedding planning right off the bat, definitely take your time researching your vendors. Unfortunately, I did not research one of my own and ended up having to cancel a contract and losing a deposit due to not reading reviews of this vendor’s horror stories. Join bridal fb groups, talk to friends, and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Lastly, don’t lose yourself in the nitty gritty of wedding planning. This day is supposed to be for YOU AND YOUR FIANCE. NOT YOUR GUESTS!!! I cannot stress this enough! Only do what feels organic and natural for your love. You want to look back on this day with no regrets, and if you feel pressured and not excited to make a decision, then its the wrong decision or the wrong vendor. While nerves are normal no matter what, trust your gut. It’s your day, your dollar, and most importantly, your love story. If you have any questions about wedding planning or hiring a vendor, do not hesitate to reach out, even if I’m not your wedding photographer. I am more than happy to help.
